Tithe and offering

Tithe can be traced to an event that happened in the old testament, when Abraham made a recovery of the loots, his brother Lot inclusive, carted away by King Chedorlaomer, that he brought an offering of appreciation to the King of Salem, Melchizedek, after He had blessed him. Also, Jacob after he had a dream of angels ascending and descending the ladder, took the stone that he had used as a pillow and made an altar unto God, named Bethel. Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.” Consequently, Tithe was passed down to his descendants, and the Lord gave it as a commandment to Moses.

Beyond blessing, it was an inner recognition, which was allegorically stated in the following statement: 'without father and mother', that moved Abram to pay tithe to Melchizedek. When the Light of Wisdom revealed to Abram that he was never born, without an earthly father, he was led in Spirit to pay tithe to Melchizedek. You remember Melchizedek was without an earthly father or mother. This is another subtle way the scripture used in revealing to us that we were not born humanly so that it does not sound strange to us this moment that we have no earthly parents either – ‘only Elohim is our Father’. This brother Abraham also acknowledged and realized in consciousness, hence the payment of tithe to Melchizedek, the prince of Salem, without father or mother. The secret of tithing lies in our ability to ‘forsake father, mother, children, and relatives for My sake’ (Mark 10:29), in the sole realization that the Holy One of Israel is our Father and not the outward contribution of our meager one-tenth from the bounty that God has given us as organized religion is proclaiming...

Therefore, as we now come into the Christian dispensation, as we follow Christ Jesus in the regeneration, we are urged by Holy Ghost to pay 100% tithe instead of the 10% stipulated under the law. Under the law, we could have basked in the euphoria that we were the seed of Abraham and got away with it, but not under Grace. Spirit demands total surrender and acceptance. That was the main reason for the communal life of the apostle in the early church that resulted in the death of Ananias and Sapphira his wife who had full knowledge that he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet (Acts 5:2). Holy Spirit demands nothing besides HIMSELF.  Holy Spirit wants no other father besides HIMSELF, the Holy One of Israel. Holy Spirit urges us in the eternal now to come up hither unto Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, an innumerable company of angels, the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, the spirits of just men made perfect (Hebrew 12:22-23); to come into the full realization and acceptance that God alone is our Father; that we were immaculately conceived, and renounce the belief in physical birth or that we live in a physical body. In doing this, you are laying down your life (the mortal me that has no rise in God) to be able to pick IT (the Christ-life, the only Life in God) up again. You must sacrifice the belief that you are from this world as Christ Jesus did, by realizing that you are from above; that you are a stranger in this world – you are not of it. You must also sacrifice the belief in the physical body as Christ Jesus did, by following Him with your cross up to Golgotha, in the sole realization that you are in Christ and Christ is in you – 'the branch grafted to the Vine in oneness.'

It is not a coincidence that the scripture reveals that Christ’s ministry spanned three and a half years, which was His tithe to the Father according to the law, giving the thirty-three and half years He lived before the crucifixion. Tithing is our steady realization that the Most High and no other is our Father and that He is Omnipresent, Omnipotent, and Omniscient. In the degree you realize that the Holy One of Israel is your Father and that you are spirit and are from above, you have paid your tithe to our Most Loving Father. To know that God is Spirit and you are a human being is duality; it is to deny God. This is robbing God, by denying your spiritual nature, which is the only sin in heaven and on earth. If only we could learn to love God just one-tenth of one degree, of the way that our heavenly Father has loved us and is loving us right this moment, our lives would be transformed now. To love God is to realize that you are a spiritual being. To remember in every passing hour, within the six minutes that I live, move and have my being in Elohim; that I and my Most Loving Father are one, is the fulfilment of my tithe unto our Father.

Furthermore, tithing is the acknowledgment and acceptance that the Holy One of Israel alone is your Father. Even when we go to Malachi, “bring all the tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house, and try me now in this” (Malachi 3:10); we are been reminded by Holy Spirit in the eternal now that it is in our continuous realization that we are the image and likeness of God, one with Christ Jesus, do we constitute the house of God; and the food in my house is the Will of God to which we have surrendered; the food in my house is 'flesh and blood' of Christ Jesus accepted and realized in consciousness as our life and immortal flesh, as the reality of our being. The will of God acknowledged and accepted in consciousness brings us out of the bondage to the human will, into our green pasture, into the secret place of the Ancient of Days; into the storehouse of Almighty God, full of food.

Please ask yourself, ‘what could I possibly give unto our Most Loving Father except for the recognition of the truth that I am a spiritual being? Except for the realization of the truth that 'I and my Father are one!' You cannot give unto our Most Loving Father anything perishable or finite – even all the gold in Fort Knox, all the treasures in Africa, and all the money in the world combined are very finite, therefore, perishable. Has the scripture not repeatedly revealed that the earth is the Lords’ and the fullness thereof? This brother David realized when he declared, “For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise”( Psalm 51:16). And in another chapter, “

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire but my ears you have opened burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require. Then I said,Here I am, I have come it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.  Psalms 40: 6-8

Even Spirit reveals through brother Micah, “Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will, the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? (Micah 6:6); also through brother Jeremiah, " But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you'". So is it not laughable to assume that to bring money, at least a tenth percent of our material earnings could actually fill up the infinite store-house of God and cause the Holy One of Israel to bless us richly as the dogma of organized religion proclaims, as if our Father has not been doing that before now; or even cause men to bring to our bosom wealth that is of a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over? And almost the whole church and our Jewish brethren have been headlong in bondage to the creed and dogma about tithing. Imagine influencing the Holy One of Israel to bless us, to rebuke the devourer for the sake of something finite and perishable we assumed we have brought unto His store-house, as if the Holy One of Israel could be influenced by man whose breath is in his nostril, to cause His rain to fall only on the just and not on the unjust; as if our Most Loving Father is a respecter of person.

All our Father wants from us is thankfulness without ceasing; beholding of His Infinite Perfection unceasingly, and the measure of grace upon one’s life is in proportion as he or she raises their hands in thankfulness unto God for His everlasting mercies and faithfulness. Everywhere in the scripture are passages revealing God’s unconditional Love towards His creation, awaiting your recognition and acceptance.

Furthermore, if you believe that a structure or any place of worship is the temple God, then go ahead to pay your one-tenth income to the supposedly high priest or man of God overseeing the sanctuary of God there. However, if you must follow Jesus Christ in the regeneration, in the full awareness that your body is the living temple of the Almighty God, then your tithe to the Holy One of Israel is in proportion to your acceptance of the divine will of God as your will; is in the degree of your surrender of your human self to the divine Will of God, by accepting, “IT IS FINISHED”, as Christ declares eternally.

Nevertheless, you do not hold anyone upholding the law of tithing literally in judgment, criticism, or condemnation since they have come to God according to the Law of Moses. According to Grace by Christ Jesus, Tithing to God is based on our relationship with our heavenly Father: "My Father is in me and I am in Him; I live, move and have my being in my Father". If that relationship is one of a ‘Father up in the sky and a son down here’, we find ourselves given a tenth percent of our earnings to organized religion. However, if that relationship is based on “I and my Father are one”, you find yourself laying down your human life to accept the divine Will of God as your will; you find yourself drinking the 'blood of Jesus Christ and eating His flesh', in the realization that His life is the life of the infinite universe, and His transfigured body your spiritual body. Tithing in heaven is the divine Will of God accepted in consciousness as our will.

Again, this is not to condemn tithing currently practiced in some religious sects of the world, but to stress that there is more to tithing than what we have heretofore believed and interpreted from the Law of Moses. Please be aware that the tithes, offering, sacrifices, and other forms and rites in the scripture are but pointers to Christ Jesus, the reality underlying all forms – “you Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me - (John 5:39). All forms and rites in the bible are the voice of God Proclaiming His Begotten Son Christ Jesus as the reality of His creation, awaiting our acceptance. Thus our Most Loving Father's declaration on mount of transfiguration, " This is my beloved Son hear ye him".

Therefore, we can no more condemn tithing any more than we can acknowledge the sacrifice of lambs and bullocks for sin offering because they are all part of Moses’ law to the Hebrew race. Such sacrifices are still offered in some religious circles of the world based on the degree of their awareness of the love of God in Christ Jesus, of their awareness of the finished work of our Most Loving Father at Calvary. If only we could catch hold of the startling truth that the Law came by Moses but Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, (John 1:17) then we shall know Tithe for what it is, even as we have known that the lambs and bullocks’ sacrifices have been replaced eternally by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. Certainly, in the Christian dispensation, Holy Spirit demands more: 100% instead of the 10% stipulated under the Law of Moses. Under Grace, we have nothing; everything belongs to God.

Thus we shall give 100% of everything we have, even our life, your very human selfhood; for everything belongs to God. You can claim nothing in this world for yourself – not even your children or wife or husband if you must follow Christ Jesus in the regeneration. In doing this, we are laying down our lives; we are sacrificing our human selfhood, in the sole recognition of the Lamb of God, Christ Jesus as the reality of our being. Now in the Christian dispensation, we come to our Father by surrendering all our material acquisitions (false mortal concepts) to enjoy His infinite provision, Christ Jesus the reality of our being; very much the same way of the communal life of the apostles. You bring the meager you own to enjoy the bountiful contribution of everybody. Now we bring our human selfhood to enjoy Christ’s life and body. Whatever our Father has given us is required of us, in the sole realization that ‘All is thine Father’. All ‘mine or my’ should be crossed out of consciousness; should be sacrificed upon Calvary. Everything you have belongs to God. Thus our very will we must surrender to God; our very life we must lay down before God, if we must follow Jesus Christ in the regeneration, judging the twelve tribes of Israel...

Over and over again, the scripture reveals that we are the living temple of God. Your body is the transfigured body of Christ Jesus – ‘the infinite, immortal body of light, not the physical body that the five senses appropriate that perishes and dies’, but the spiritual body that was never born and will never die. In doing this, you are paying your tithe and keeping to the injunction of Christ, He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” ( John 6:56)  Indeed, it is this truth that sets you free from mortality as you dwell on it; as you dwell on the truth that Christ the hope of glory is your true self, you open your door to the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. This is the fulfillment of your tithe to God.

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”
